4/19/01 - Cabbage Key with Lyle & Nancy and Bob & Bea Yet another beautiful day here in Florida, mid 80's and clear - and a fun one it was, too! We started out the day by enjoying the view of the river while the Truly Nolen (the local pest control people - check out their car below) analyzed our place for pest control treatment. Once that was complete, we headed over to the boat which is at a local marina. Once we boarded the boat, we headed to Gulf Harbour to get gas, and then over to Lyle & Nancy's home. We met Lyle & Nancy via our realtor, who was also their realtor (Thank You Jean Harvey!) and have become good friends since. :) Lyle & Nancy recently purchased a Sea Ray 24' Fundeck, and a couple of weeks ago we thought it might be fun to ride out to Cabbage Key in convoy fashion in our Sea Ray's -- as you will see, it was a blast! After having lunch & walking the nature trail at Cabbage Key, we headed to North Captiva Island. At the island, we tested our anchors out and enjoyed the view (which has been captured below for you to enjoy too!) Finally, we all came back to our place and enjoyed the sunset (and looked over the days pictures). Enjoy! We sure did!

Within no time, we are out in the boat, applying the sunscreen!	Gramms says "Check out my white nose!" while Gramps looks at the big boats in Gulf Harbour.	Tara's enjoys the ride too!

To Cabbage Key we go!
And away we go! Wave to Lyle & Nancy, if you look closely, they are waving to you!	Gramms and Tara enjoy sitting up front -- Tara's checks to assure Lyle & Nancy are still on our tail...	...while Gramps stretches out and enjoys the ride.
We're here!
About 30 minutes later we arrive at Cabbage Key (on the left).	As we leave the Intercoastal Waterway, the Cabbage Key Inn & Restaurant sign greets us.	We navigate our way to the Cabbage Key dock, you can see it in the distance.
To our left is the Cabbage Key Inn & Restaurant (behind the Palm trees). As you can see, quite a few people are here today!	After successfully docking our boats, we walked up the stairs to the Restaurant & Inn and wait outside for our table (they aren't serving lunch outside today, not sure why?)	This presents a perfect opportunity for some photos! Here's Lyle & Nancy!

To the nature trail!

North Captiva - here we come!
Tara, Nancy & Lyle ride in the "Nancy Leone"...	...while Gramps snoozes...	...and Gramms helps her grandson navigate!
Uh oh, the sun's hitting him, no worries, he quickly gets out his "I'm retired" hat!	Ahh, kicking back here off of the shores of North Captiva, in the Gulf of Mexico...	"Howdy!" from Nancy, Lyle & Tara!
Here's a view to the east for you -- notice the tall pines.	Here's a view to the north for you -- this island does not have land access, notice the cottages/homes -- take a moment and think about how you can only get here by boat :).	Here's a view to the south -- Captiva & Sanibel (both can be accessed by car) are off in the distance.
Gramps shows you how he lassoed Gramms almost 57 years ago (this Sunday, April 22, is their 57th anniversary!)	Curious about what the cockpit looks like -- here ya go! As you'll notice the water is nice and deep - 19 feet.	Time to head back!
