12/29/00 - Tour of Key West Key West is definitely a cool place to visit! If you are going to visit Key West by car, keep in mind there is only one road that you can take to Key West and that is US 1. Patience is key! Average speeds are about 45, and it is about 140 miles from South Miami to Key West. By the way, Key West is actually closer to Cuba (90 Miles) than it is to Miami (~140 Miles)! We took the Conch (pronounced "konk") Train Tour, and had a really high energy tour guide named Jack -- if you visit Key West and take the Train Tour, definitely see if you can get on Jack's train -- the man rules!! Key West information: * Key West has over 30,000 cats on the island, and its human population (without tourists) is 26,000! * Key West is an island that is 4 miles from east to west, and 2 miles from north to south. * The two main streets in old Key West are Duval and Whitehead. * The New Year's weekend is one of the most busiest weekends at Key West -- of course, that was when we got there. Enjoy the pictures! |

Jack said this was the unfinished road to Havana (Cuba)! (He was joking, although it does go in the right direction.) |

The Conch Train -- we recommend taking trains over trolleys if you have the choice. Key West offered both. Like the trains, the trolleys give you a tour of the city, however, the trolleys stop about a dozen times letting people on and off. |

The neighborhood where the Little White House is. |
Harry S. Truman Little White House -- we toured this (unfortunately, no photographs could be taken on the tour). |
