12/25/00 - Gasparilla Island -
Christmas on the Beach &
Dinner at the Noutko's

What an excellent way to spend Christmas Day, we're sad that all of you couldn't be with us. :(

Uncle Ted & Aunt Jean suggested we hit the beach at Gasparilla Island, which is home to the town of Boca Grande. Local papers were documenting the fact that the Bush Family (George W and brother, Jeb, and parents) were going to be on the Island starting the 26th. We kept an eye out to see (and photograph) if any of them had arrived early...
They hadn't :(

As you will notice, the weather was awesome, and so was dinner!

Enjoy!

'Yes, another successful trip compliments of the Noutko Tour Van!' Commander Ted points out!

A Florida Snowman!
You saw it here first!! :)

The Lighthouse!

Someone is very happy to be here!

As are two others! :)

This stuff washed up on the beach -- we believe these are crab & perhaps, lobster, catchers...

Ahhh... Beaches are nice...

...so are temperatures in the middle 70's in December...

A view to the south...

Whoops -- Charly forgot to smile! He was definitely havin' fun (concentrating too hard on taking the picture).

A view to the north...

'Come on you guys! I gotta take a leak!' Uncle Ted yelled.

'My eyes are yellow!'

As beaches go, none of the other beaches we have been to have rocks this size in the sand...

Close up of the incoming waves.

A really cool shot of the lighthouse.

A final view of the sandy beach (for now...)

Gasparilla Island -- if you ever get to Southwest Florida, definitely take some time and visit here!

Self Service - You simply pay $2, and put a stub in your car window.

Keep in the mind the park hours, though...

As with most islands we have visited, you can get to almost everywhere via the bike trails.

Uncle Ted feels better now (after the restroom stop).

'Okay boy -- here's how ya remove sand from yer feet'

Our tour van driver. :)

An excellent Christmas dinner, Prime Rib (with Pine Tree enhancement!), Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Rolls, Asparagus, tasty Red Wine and Pumpkin Pie for dessert! YUMMY!

A Big Thank You to Uncle Ted & Aunt Jean for the wonderful day, meal and company! :)

MERRY CHRISTMAS from
Charly2, Tara, Jean & Theodore!
