12/18/00 - Punta Gorda, Florida -
Ponce de Leon Park with your hosts
Uncle Ted & Aunt Jean

Prepare to learn about wildlife (including the big bellied causasian!) as your hosts, Uncle Ted and Aunt Jean, take you on a journey through Ponce de Leon park. This tour will help you understand the different types of wildlife that are near the Gulf of Mexico, and exactly why the Mangroves are so important.

Fasten your seat belt, sit back and enjoy the ride!

NOOOO! This is not Uncle Ted! :) However, this was a photo opportunity we could not miss *grin*

As soon as we arrived, Tara decided she wanted to see the beach up close.

Here is the Noutko Tour Van, look closely for the Noutko symbol. :)

Here are the backsides of your hosts! :)

A close up of one of the birds watching the fisherman, hoping for a treat.

Now THIS is riding in style. We asked them how they liked their 'recliner-style' bikes, they stated they loved 'em!

Another close up of the birdie looking for grub...

Uncle Ted says
'You better read those rules, boy!' :)

Here are the rules.

'Meet my Grandpa, Juan Ponce de Leon' Uncle Ted told a bystander...
(They look like twins, right? :)

...as the girls began the tour at the...

...Needlefish sign.

Down the boardwalk we proceeded to the Yellow Crowned Night Heron sign...

...then to the Brown Pelican...

...then to the The Fiddler Crab...

...then the Mullet...

...and BREAK-TIME -- time for a group shot, Jean, Tara, Charly2, and Ted!

Okay, back to the boardwalk -- single file please...

Here's information on the Green Backed Heron...

...and the Raccoon!

Time for another group shot! Ted, Jean, Tara and Charly2

Here's information on yet, another Heron, the Little Blue Heron...

...the Snowy Egret...

...and although the picture is a little blurry, you can see barnacles growing on the tree limbs.

While Tara waves at the cameraman, the tour guides study the sign about the...

...Mangroves.

Here is a place to relax and meditate.

The tour guide states 'Be sure to read the Description and Naming of Florida!'

'Also, don't forget to read this...'

Ahh... Nice view...

:( Good thing Becky & Peanut did not join us for this tour... :(

The Ponce de Leon Historical Park informational sign...

A view to the west...

We interrupt this tour to take a look at a cool older Porsche...

...whoa, what a nice car!

What's this? A raccoon getting ready to have a snack?

Here's the play by play --

Step #1 - get even with the bird food holder...

Step #2 - put your right foot on the holder...

Step #3 - Grab some grub, and make it stick to your nose!

Step #4 - Smile for the camera!

On our way back to the Tour Van, we snapped these shots of the sunset...

...ahh... December 18th, and about 65'...

Uncle Ted says 'Come on boy! The Tour Van is leavin'!

...and here we go!

The sunset from US-41 on our way back to Lake Suzy...

...notice, no snow...

...time for dinner at the Coral Rock Cafe! Hope you enjoyed your tour!
