11/27/00 - Universal Studios & Modem Friendly Access

Universal Studios was a lot of fun, we picked a great day (two days after Thanksgiving Break) -- it was in the lower 70's and there hardly any people there! The longest we waited for any ride was about 10 minutes. :)

Welcome to Universal Studios Orlando!

The first thing we did was have lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe in Orlando. It was tasty!

As soon as we walked in, I spotted the GNR and Motley Crue stuff! :)

Dr. Feelgood autographed lab coat...

Guns N Roses - Appetite for Destruction - commemorative for selling 1 million copies.

Izzy Stradlin's autographed guitar (ex-rhythm guitarist)

Slash's autographed guitar
(ex-lead guitarist)

GNR cross from the Appetite CD...

After lunch, we went to the Twister attraction -- quite cool!

You actually stand through a simulated tornado!

A view downtown -- a perspective shot, the back buildings are just flat boards painted so it looks like they are off in the distance.

Now there's a Christmas Tree!

We rode the Kong ride, it was really cool -- you enter through a simulated NYC subway, it really felt like you were there!

After the ride, you can get a souvenir shot here...

Beautiful day, eh?

Shorts in November... Ahh...

The Men In Black Attack!

The Animal Show Stage at Universal - part 1 of 3.

The orangatan was hilarious (the host was quite funny too).

Aww... What a cutie (the monkey!)

On the Nickelodeon tour, we were able to play our own game of Family Double Dare!

The crowd cheers on!

In this game, the goal was for the kids to get the rings around their parents.

Tara and the Ghostbusters station wagon!

Tara joined the gang...

The Universal Studios Store, conveniently located near the exit... ;)

Quite a cool shot of the palm trees and spot lights around Universal Studios.

A view toward the exit.

A view of the back of the entrance sign.

A cool night shot of the the Universal Globe.

Check out Tara's coolio Grinch face!

Killer shot of the Universal Studios entrance at night. :)

A view of the Radisson towers in Orlando from the top floor of the parking garage.

Modem Friendly Access and more...

This is what is considered and advertised as "Modem-Friendly Access" at Fort Summit Campground, it turns out that this is one of the best modem setups we have seen (after 5 campgrounds!) Two of the other campgrounds we have been to - make you stand up the entire time.

Here was our typical Internet setup at Fort Summit.

Not only were we surprised the line worked, but we were super surprised that we got a 50.6K connection (which is really good!)

Fort Summit has one of the biggest pools we have seen -- the pool was open until 11pm.

They also had a hot tub. :)

Nice weather, eh?
